4.4.9 Energy – Conclusion

We need to be alert to, cognisant of, and aware of energy in our day-to-day work.

I would like to finish this Chapter on Energy by encouraging you, once again, to consider the positive effects of the inclusion and management of a little bit of chaos – trust our root foundations, and see how freedom from tight, ordered structure might assist in responsibility emerging in people.

I spent a good bit of time in this Chapter exploring myth, how it prevails in society, and how adherence to it drains our energy. Easily, the most harmful thing about myth is that when it becomes truth we build our society around it – and then it becomes more and more difficult to shift! The myths become sedimented.

Tight, rigid structures suit the Pillars, (and in turn benefit the corporate world) far more than they benefit the families who are in the Focus Group. For the passionate and committed worker who wants to do something different, the long-term effect of believing the myths (and complying with the behaviours that come from believing) is burnout.

And in terms of conservation of energy, it is helpful to remember that continually dancing to the tune of the structures of our myth-laden, top-down society can drain all the energy out of us – energy that could be used to better the lives of people that we are being paid to help.

Now, after those Sections on Theories, (Section Three) and Concepts and Propositions, (Section Four) we will move on to how useful they are.

That is, the Practical Applications of all the above, always the most challenging bit!
