3.6.8.1 Enhancers And Inhibitors – Inclusiveness

Here is a list of ENHANCERS and INHIBITORS in respect of Inclusiveness.

Remember, an Enhancer increases the likelihood of Inclusiveness being present in an organisation, an Inhibitor, on the other hand, decreases same.

So, in order to, say, increase the likelihood of Inclusiveness, we ensure that there is a Relaxed Atmosphere, and we also try and encourage staff to Trust people.

If we want something to be Less Inclusive, we have a lot of Rigid Rules, or the staff are Aloof.

INCLUSIVENESS

Have a look at the above, and see if they fit with any organisations in which you have been involved, or perhaps, that offered a service that claimed to be inclusive of people who are in deep distress.

3.6.8.2 Enhancers And Inhibitors – Creativity

Here is a list of ENHANCERS and INHIBITORS in respect of Creativity.

Remember, an Enhancer increases the likelihood of Creativity being present in an organisation, an Inhibitor, on the other hand, decreases same.

So, in order to, say, increase the likelihood of Creativity, we ensure that people have Autonomy, and we encourage and model Democracy i.e. that people have a voice.

If we want something to be Less Creative, we get people to Conform to whatever the boss or bosses want, or give people tasks to do that are Meaningless.

CREATIVITY

Creativity is often seen to be as something separate in an organisation. For example, there might be wonderful creative opportunities for children but fostering creativity among staff is not thought to be that important.

As with inclusiveness, have a look at the characteristics above and see if they are present in organisations that you might have contact with.

And, some organisations that claim to be creative, harshly judge people or organisations who they deem not to be creative enough. This, of course, is very un-creative……

3.6.8.3 Enhancers And Inhibitors – Boundedness

Here is a list of ENHANCERS and INHIBITORS in respect of Boundedness.

Remember, an Enhancer increases the likelihood of Boundedness being present in an organisation, an Inhibitor, on the other hand, decreases same.

So, in order to, say, increase the likelihood of Boundedness, we might Rush Decisions, so that people will be caught off guard, or we could encourage and model Rivalry so that people will be always competing with each other.

If we want something to be Less Bounded, we get people to value Tolerance, or we try and generate an Informal atmosphere.

BOUNDEDNESS

Like Creativity and Inclusiveness, it is interesting to check on the above characteristics and see if they are present in organisations that you are familiar with!
